Assessment and Data

The  assessment processes in the  classroom, through to summative assessments and the use of assessment information should have an enormous impact on the learning of pupils and the evaluation of a school’s strengths and areas for improvement.

This  continuing professional development programme will contribute to improving learning and raising attainment across the Authority by supporting the development of effective assessment at all stages of learning, feeding into data and information rich schools.

Courses planned for this year cover areas such as:

1. Continuity of assessment and data, particularly between key stages
2. Using and understanding attainment data analyses
3. Assessment for Learning
4. Termly meetings for primary assessment coordinators
5. Foundation Stage Profile
6. Termly meetings for secondary data and assessment coordinators
7. National Tests at Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3
8. Using assessments to improve learning in all years and all key stages
9. Moderating Assessments
10. Contextual Value Added
11. Target Setting
12. RAISEonline
13. Tracking Progress

The effective assessment of pupils’ learning is a continuously developing area and the analysis and interpretation of data becomes more complex and detailed every year.  There are LA courses for all staff working in schools covering all the above and more.  All the courses aim to improve learning, raise attainment and increase achievement.
