The training for the National Secondary Strategy has two main themes:
PROGRESSION THROUGH PERSONALISATION
Key training events for those colleagues who have been identified as members of Intervention Teams within schools. The content of these sessions will focus on the main themes of personalisation including the strategic planning of whole school intervention for underperforming groups, effective use of data and support for transfer and transition in both KS3 and KS4.
SUBJECT LEADER TRAINING
Specific subject based training in English, Mathematics, Science, ICT and Behaviour and Attendance. The content of these sessions will focus on management issues, teaching and learning at subject level, sharing of effective practice moreover these will be key meetings for receiving current information regarding subjects.
ICT
Secondary Strategy training and support for ICT Subject Leaders and Teachers, responding to local and national developments.
Behaviour and Attendance
This training is designed to support Behaviour and Attendance leaders in Secondary schools. The focus this year will be on the strategic management of this strand at whole school level.
Science
Secondary Strategy training and support for Science Subject Leaders and Teachers, responding to local and national developments.
Maths
The Mathematics training and support available this year consists of strategic planning, discussion and development sessions for Heads of Mathematics and Key Stage Leaders of Mathematics. Development training opportunities for the classroom practice of Mathematics teachers, particularly NQTs, GTPs and less experienced colleagues is also part of the Mathematics offer.
English
Secondary Strategy training and support for English Subject Leaders and Teachers, responding to local and national developments.
