The Wakefield Youth Percussion Ensemble rehearses on Wednesday evenings at Manygates Music Centre and is conducted by Teacher in Charge of Percussion, Jason Whiteley. The membership of the group continues to grow and entry to the ensemble is by recommendation. The groups aim is to further develop players' skills and confidence required to play in Saturday morning Music Centre and premiere ensemble groups.

The ensemble has taken part in Music Centre concerts, joint concerts with other Music Service groups and has participated in the National Music for Youth festival.
