Wakefield Youth Jazz Orchestra
Roger Scorah, the band's musical director formed the Wakefield Youth Jazz Orchestra in October 2004 with the assistance of all the Directors of Music Centre Big Bands (Stuart Wilkinson, Carol Billington and Lee Muncaster.)
Wakefield Youth Jazz Orchestra rehearse on Fridays from 4.30pm to 6.00pm. The styles of music they play include standards, ballads, Latin American, funk, blues, rock and swing. Students have the opportunity to improvise and are encouraged to develop their improvisation skills. Students need to be of approximately Grade 4/5 standard to join the ensemble.
