The main responsibility of the Wakefield District Safeguarding Children Board is to ensure children and young people in the Wakefield District are safe from harm.
The Children Act places the Safeguarding Boards on a statutory footing, giving many agencies a duty to cooperate with regards to the safeguarding of children. This duty sits within the context of the Every Child Matters: Change for Children.
